Local Doctor receives Rural Health Clinician Award

HealthReach Community Health Centers' Governing Board Chairman, Dr. Roger Renfrew, received The Rural Health Clinician Award at the 12th Annual New England Rural Health RoundTable Symposium in October.

The award is made to a direct service provider honored for leadership in bringing health services to citizens in rural New England. Besides practicing medicine in central Maine for the last thirty years, Dr. Renfrew has most recently worked on Maine's Rural Health Plan and Physician's Peer Review System. Also, since its inception, he has been involved with Daniel Hanley Center Health Policy Leadership, which improves collaboration and leadership skills in Maine's Health care community.

"I have been honored to work with a large number of rural physicians who are committed to their communities, to quality care and to change," Dr. Renfrew remarked. "HealthReach Community Health Centers can be proud of their committed providers working in the communities we serve."

Dr. Renfrew practices Geriatric Medicine and Internal Medicine with Redington Medical Primary Care, a department within Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan, Maine. Dr. Renfrew is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Geriatrics.

HealthReach Community Health Centers is a system of eleven federally qualified, community-based health centers, and two dental practices located in central and western Maine. Dedicated providers deliver first-class health care to citizens in over 80 rural communities.
