Local medical practice teams with National Alliance on Mental Illness

LIVERMORE FALLS -- Western Maine Family Health Center (WMFHC) is teaming up with the National Alliance on Mental Illness Maine (NAMI Maine) to provide a local peer support group at the health center.

NAMI Maine helps start groups across the state so individuals with mental health conditions have a place where they can go to receive the support they need. These groups are led by local volunteers who host the meeting and provide support, education, and a safe place for people to share their stories. According to Emma Ansara, Family Nurse Practitioner at the health center, "We are pleased to be able to provide a place for our neighbors with depression, anxiety, and other mental health conditions to meet with people experiencing similar issues and learn new strategies to handle daily challenges."

The group is open to health center patients as well as community members. It will be held at WMFHC at 80 Main Street, Livermore Falls. It will begin on Tuesday, October 6th and meet from 6:30 to 8:00 PM on the first and third Tuesday of each month.
