The original intent of the health center movement was and continues to be to provide access to quality health services in areas of the states where those services are absent and residents are unable to receive health services. The HealthReach centers are located in medically underserved Maine rural areas and are at the forefront of instituting such innovative actions as electronic medical records and disease management projects. In addition, they offer Healthy Living instructional classes and provide first-rate health care. I am also honored to work closely with the committed employees of HealthReach who continue to ensure that quality health services are offered at the centers as well as the Board members who share their time and experience in assisting to meet the needs of medically underserved populations. As the Federal Government and Congress struggle with the concept of changes with health care delivery and insurance coverage, the HealthReach community health centers continue to maintain high quality health service delivery system while meeting the needs of local Maine residents." Directed by boards with majority consumer membership, CHCs focus on meeting the basic health care needs of individual communities. We provide treatment regardless of income or insurance coverage. Since the early 1960s, CHCs have worked closely with local people to identify unmet health care needs and to help meet those challenges. The original intent of the health center movement was and continues to be to provide access to quality health services. Our centers serve as a gateway to health services by providing geographic access to patients (many of the HealthReach practices are located in rural areas where primary care services are not readily available) and financial access to health services for patients through our Affordable Care Program. HealthReach opened our first center in Bingham, Maine in 1975. Since then we have expanded health care access across many Central and Western Maine communities through 11 health centers and two dental centers. At HealthReach, we are proud of our medical and dental providers and the quality of care they deliver. Our experienced family practitioners focus on preventive care and developing partnerships with patients that enhance their overall health status. We serve patients from birth through retirement and beyond. During 2010, our organization will complete the implementation of an electronic medical records system which will enhance the care provided at our health centers. This year also marks the initiation of behavioral health services at a number of our locations. With the integration of primary care, dental and behavioral health services, our health care team will be able to more fully address the needs of our patients. "I am proud and excited to serve as the Chair of the Board of the HealthReach family of health centers. My first introduction to health centers occurred while I was employed as a planner for the federally funded health planning agency in 1977 and, upon its closing, continued on in a similar position in State service until 2006. During the 1970s, the health center movement was in its infancy and HealthReach, known then as Kennebec Valley Regional Health Agency, was held in very high regard as it is today. 
Welcome to the website of HealthReach Community Health Centers. We provide acute, chronic and preventive medical services to over 30,000 Maine residents and visitors each year. We are part of the United States Public Health system that provides primary care to 18 million Americans in 1,200 Community Health Centers (CHCs) spread across 50 states.
